EA/Dice has released a Beta 1.40 Patch for Battlefield 2142. While the patch doesn't appear to contain any bug fixes, it does contain some gameplay changes, and includes the new Highway Tampa map which was also recently released for BF2. Since this is a beta, it is only recommended for those who want to beta test these new changes.

- Fixed an exploit that would allow commanders to call Orbital and EMP strikes before it had fully recharged.
- The Clark RDX Shotgun can now detonate other nearby explosives.
- EU Assault Rifle recoil and deviation have been slightly reduced.
- Bianchi and Shuko LMGs recoil reduced.
- Clark Shotgun rate of fire increased.

FEATURES
- Added an autosave to kit customisations. After you customise a kit and spawn in with that kit, the customisation will be automatically saved until you change it and spawn in again. Note that you must spawn in with a particular kit for it to be saved.
- Added a new map, Highway Tampa.

BF2142 Beta Patch 

The id Software Website is offering a new multiplayer demo for QUAKE 4, based on the new version 1.4.2 patch, while offering content different from the QUAKE 4 demo released in November 2005.

Following closely behind the release of the QUAKE 4 1.4.2 Point Release Patch, the QUAKE 4 1.4.2 Multiplayer Demo is now available for download. The new Multiplayer Demo comes with three maps, VERTICON (q4xtourney2), OVER THE EDGE (q4dm7) and SPEED TRAP (q4ctf3) for your enjoyment.

The QUAKE 4 1.4.2 Multiplayer Demo is not compatible with any other versions of QUAKE 4, including the retail edition of QUAKE 4. Therefore, players will only be able to connect and play against other QUAKE 4 1.4.2 Demo users.
