Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications.
Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing
profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the
compilers and sold to advertising companies.
This update cannot be disabled in the download
package below; it is not only used if you install TeaTimer, but by the
main Spybot-S&D scanner as well. The methods available to detect malware have been more than doubled, including new ways to generically detect malware mutations.

Today Blizzard released
the much anticipated 2.01 patch for WoW aptly named the "Calm before
the Storm" patch. Indeed it is the "calm before the storm" as players
gear (pun intended) up for the expansion big time. The 2.01 patch
changes loads of things in the game, fixes tons of bugs/nagging things and overall changes the base game quite alot actually.

The AMD Dual-Core Optimizer can help improve some PC gaming video
performance by compensating for those applications that bypass the
Windows API for timing by directly using the RDTSC (Read Time Stamp
Counter) instruction. Applications that rely on RDTSC do not benefit
from the logic in the operating system to properly account for the
affect of power management mechanisms on the rate at which a processor
core's Time Stamp Counter (TSC) is incremented. The AMD Dual-Core
Optimizer helps to correct the resulting video performance effects or
other incorrect timing effects that these applications may experience
on dual-core processor systems, by periodically adjusting the core
time-stamp-counters, so that they are synchronized.

As always this new version of mIRC addresses many of the issues
reported since the last release. A lot of time was spent tweaking
features and fixing bugs.
We worked on the installer, logfile handling, script error handling, as
well as a handful of other things. Only a few new features and
functions have been added, making this mainly a bugfix release.

Things continue to move within the Battlefield Universe. Today we are releasing the 1.41 patch
for Battlefield 2 that resolves an intermittent crash that affected
game servers. Although this is a small update this improvement will
greatly improve the stability for players. This patch will be available
beginning at 8:00am PST.

GRISOFT is announcing a new version of the AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition.
This new 7.5 version with improved performance and full compatibility
with the latest Windows Vista version is available. Users that are
using AVG Free 7.1 will be provided with a specific dialog, within the
next few weeks, with the opportunity to choose the right option
fulfilling their needs. AVG Free 7.1 version will be discontinued on
15th of Jan 2007.
